The $25 charge is the lost productivity, the additional $35 is the cost for the replacement switch … so the production line has to remove the failed switch and replace it, therefore the product in effect used 2 switches to get one that worked.

why is the $35 re-accounted for when determining the cost of failure? isn't it already taken into account with the initial purchase of the switches?
