I've started studying for CMA Exam 1, and I'm struggling. Who's passed these exams? Is there anybody that could help me out?

I purchased the WileyCMAExcel program and spent approx 1 hour a night for about 6 months studying.  How I did it was the following:

    1.  I read the book chapter / Section.
    2.  I watched the videos for that section and took the basic 5/10 question aptitude tests.
    3.  Repeated steps 1 and 2 for all sections.

When I finished with the book and the sections, I then proceeded to do the 11th hour review for part 1.  I went through it as follows:

    1.  Print out each LOS section summary and put it in a notebook.  I then read through the entirety of the sections and highlight pertinent pieces of information.
    2.  Watch individual videos again.

After this - I spend about an 1 to 1.5 hours each night answering test bank questions.   I do this by the following way:
    1.  Select only 1 section to focus on at a time.  I make sure to first only do unanswered questions until the entire section has no more unseen questions.
    2.  Repeat for each section until all unanswered questions have been seen.
    3.  Repeat with incorrectly answered questions.

Approx 3 weeks before test date I then do the following:
    1.   Reserve a study room at the library for half a day.
    2.  Take one of the practice tests under "Testing conditions".   It's important to not do this in your home or study area because it helps getting into some place different to take a test than the comfort of your own home.  Try to replicate as best as you can how you will dress during testing day so you get familiar with what you will feel like and getting away from you house.
    3.  One week before testing I take a second practice exam in the same way as above.   I usually use one exam from the regular test, and one from the 11th hour so the questions are different.

Make sure to continue with the 1 to 1.5 hours per night of questions - at this point I usually open it up to all sections and try to get a good routine random sampling of questions being spit out.  The idea here is to get your brain to be able to more quickly shift topics and do the math.

The week of test - I usually take the test day and the previous two days off of work.  I disconnect completely from the office and focus on just reviewing topics and questions prior to test.

One other point that I should note - I do not study 7 days a week.   I found that I try and study Sunday through Thursday evenings and leave Friday and Saturday evenings open for personal fun.

Perhaps the above is overkill - but it worked for me and I passed the first exam.   Best of luck!

My experience is a little different than Keivn's. I have crunched both parts of the exam into 2.5 months. I am a recent graduate and am taking the CMA and CPA before starting employment in August.

For me, I study Every day, 3-6 hours a day. I use it as my full time job. I read the text, then go onto the corresponding video. Through this process, I take my own notes in Onenote. After watching the video, I take the assignment and move on to the next section. I take about 4-5 weeks to read the book and get through all of the online assignments. I then take my 1 week before the exam to watch every video again, read the study guide, redo the assessment, and do the test bank questions (these days are usually 8+ hour days). After completing that, 3 days before taking the exam, I do the practice exam to see what I need to last minute focus on. I use these last 3 days to go over materials I still need to practice, read over my own notes, and re-do the essay questions. This is ALOT of work, but doable.

I recommend reading the explanations for each assessment and test bank questions. I often will take the explanations of ones I got wrong and write them down to include In my notes/final review.

Wishing you the best in your studies!

Begin reading the tutorial and answer the quiz one chapter at a time, download the study summary and study the chapter. Then create an exam for the chapter, take the exam when achieve 70% competency begin studying the next chapter then take exam for both chapters, achieve 75% then continue adding chapters periodically try to achieve 80% exam competency remember to include the essay questions as you study, try to write essay summary of each chapter and study it as you go along. When all chapters are completed begin taking the mega exam on all the chapters each week
