  • 1.  Question about the time given to pass both parts

    Posted 04-12-2019 02:32 AM
    Hello Future & Current CMAs,

I'm hoping to be a CMA by the end this year as I just cleared my Part 2. I was hoping if someone could help me with this ..

Candidates must register for an exam part within the first 12 months after being admitted to the Certification Program. In addition, all candidates are required to pass both parts of the exam within 3 years of being admitted to the CMA program. If a candidate is not able to pass both parts within this time period, the Certification Entrance Fee will have to be repaid and the passed part will have to be retaken.

I'm kinda confused regarding the above message  You see I enrolled in the CMA program in 2016 and attempted P1 in Feb 2017 which I failed miserably with a score of 190. I gave up my journey but few years down the line I realised that I can do this if I keep my focus. So I attempted P2 in Feb 2019 and cleared it.

Now what's confusing me is the statement that says you need to pass both exams within 3 years after enrolling in the program. Does this mean I have to pass P1 in September or else P2 will expire?

Yes,  both tests must be taken in the 3 year window. After 3 years any previous passed tests will have to be retaken and you must pay a new exam entrance fee.
